so if you're somewhere with your laptop, like a cafe, and you need to go to the bathroom, what do you do?

i used to take my laptop with me. but now i just use ntfs encryption and lock the computer when i walk away from it. at least that way no one will be able to recover any of my data except my porn and music.

I bring mine with me if I have to go to the bathroom at the library or something. do you mean you physically lock the computer to something or you just lock access to it? I'd still be scared someone was gonna nab it.

windows, so i mean lock access (so that it's password protected and my data is secure)

i have backups so i don't care if someone steals it

yeah, I mean, it cost what, 1300 or so dollars?

I don't care as much about my data in that instance as I do my money that I spent on the hardware.

I agree. I back up my data (but routinely lose my USB drive, which is *one* of my backups) but if someone jacked my shit that I spent money I had to work my ass off to get--you best believe blood will be shed.
