has anyone else noticed that a lot of newer, trendy, hip, whatever-you-want-to-call-them websites are really not intuitive to navigate? the two sites that prompted this are Flickr and Virb(.com).
granted, I don't have an account with Flickr, but I find navigating peoples' profiles on there horribly confusing. maybe there's some aspect of how Flickr is supposed to function that I'm not grasping, but I really kind of hate it.
as for Virb, I know it's in beta, so things could change, but the navigation on there isn't terribly good either. navigating between messages/friend requests/comments is mainly what I'm thinking of. there just doesn't seem to be a consistent way to navigate the sections of the site, or even consistent sections.
what sucks is that it's these sites that tend to have cooler features. Virb has the ability to customize your profile page pretty easily and even add your own sections (modules) to your profile. I don't know what Flickr has, but there has to be some reason people are using it over something like Photobucket. I never thought I'd say this, but I think I prefer MySpace's layout to Virb's. as buggy as it is, and as many stupid ads that it has, it seems a lot simpler to me.
someone needs to start a trend of simple, intuitively-navigable websites with sweet features!
has anyone else noticed this at all?
yeah, i have problems with those two sites as well. i'm not sure if it's a trend, though. we'll see.

yeah, calling it a trend might be premature, but I can't really think of any other newish sites out there. I guess last.fm is pretty new. their layout is strictly okay. I do like it better than virb and flickr, but it could still be worlds better to navigate.
