I haven't seen movies from hardly any of these people. I'd like to hear what directors you love, or you want to check out. Here's some of mine:
Luis Buñuel

Pasolini is a-ok in my book, though. Can't go wrong with him.
I'm more partial to American directors anyway, so ignore me all you want about European directors.
I am fond of:
-
Deepa Mehta director of the films
Fire,
Earth, and
Water. all beautiful, thoughtful, controversial
-
Darren Aronofsky director of
Pi,
Requiem for a Dream,
The Fountain,
The Wrestler (already discussed in this thread)
-
Tarsem Singh director of
The Cell and
The Fall. both aesthetically stunning films, though the latter plot line left something to be desired.
-
Tom Tykwer director of
Run Lola Run and (more importantly!!!)
The Princess and the Warrior. I love his style. I love his music choices. I love his star actress!
These aren't in any order :)
Ingmar Bergman

i saw a movie last night i thought i hadn't seen before, and then it all came back. persona. thank you bergman!
