I didn't know what the hype was about, I had seen short parts of the Ali G movie and I thought it was not funny. I didn't realize until recently that Borat was the same actor. He's an interesting satirist now that I've seen more clips of him.
this video is a pretty good example of how he can bring the ignorance of people out in one candid way.

Seems like an interesting lifestyle. Playing parts so fully and really focusing on the subtle identity issues. Just visiting certain people or groups in a candid way, and acting on the spot. It's pretty impressive. Ali G uses the retarded gangster stereotype, and rubs it all over the faces of people who are serious, making them uncomfortable. Borat has an attitude that suggests he's an outgoing guy and is overt about his sexual behavior and makes people uncomfortable about homosexuality and underscoring his ideas about woman being lesser.
Overall I was pretty bored and saw a few videos. Seems like he really develops his parts to make uncomfortable (to the candid participant) humorous intercultural issues apparent.

Yeah I dont think I like him too much. I'll see the movie when it is cheap/free, but other than that I don't find him too funny. Jon Stewert does a much better job in my opinion. I do like how pissed the catholic priest was getting. Kinda funny.

I never liked Ali G the character ... but I <3 the Borat movie. I'm definately going to see it again.
i downloaded borat a while a go and i found it to be a pretty funny movie. I especially like the ending.
