Are there any Open Source Statistics software that can plot Standard Deviance, Bell curves, etc.? I am going to need these relatively soon.

good question about OO.org Calc. that would be neat. the only software I'm aware of is SPSS (I think that's the acronym, at least) and it's not OSS :(.

do any of you use gretl, econometrics folks?

i'm going to pirate this thread and use it based on the thread title rather than the content of the first post. these are what i've used:

spss
stata
R/S

i'm mostly into basic statistics stuff (as I haven't learned other methods), but i do like to whip up R graphics, and typeset in LaTeX. i enjoy stata's interface pretty well. i want to use sas, but haven't really had any access to the software.

i remember gretl being ok for super-simple stuff; i used it as an undergrad for a couple of papers before i was introduced to stata
