finally got this set up between my wireless router and laptop :).
now I have this on top of WEP. it took me a while to get done because it was tough wrapping my head around how the tun virtual interfaces worked exactly and whether or not I'd have to write new pf rules or anything. ultimately, I just had to add tun1 (tun0 is for PPPoE) to $inf_if in pf.conf and everything worked.
I might post my configuration files on my blog at some point, along with ifconfig output for the relevant interfaces (wireless interfaces and tun interfaces). there is no shortage of example configuration files on the web, but I had trouble finding anything with example ifconfig output.
I'd also like to understand how routing tables work better. I was having some trouble with that and some of the information that the route command gave me I didn't completely understand.
I'm also noticing some weird, seemingly unencrypted traffic over the wireless on port 6890 from IPs that resolve to domain names like "root.1.blahblahblah.blah.verison.net".
