anyone else seen this? it's kind of what I've always wanted in a laptop. very portable, has USB, and is powerful enough to do things like listen to music and watch videos.
only one of the models is out right now, but all of them, including two cheaper models, are due out by the end of November according to Asus' website.

the only thing I can find about the wireless chipset is that it's Atheros-based. I'm curious if there's a driver for it in any of the BSDs, especially OpenBSD.
if it's atheros, then yes, and it's nice.

couldn't it be a new Atheros chipset or something though? I just remember hearing different types of Atheros chipsets with different model numbers or whatever. regardless, sounds hopeful. I'm going to seriously consider one of these when the cheaper models come out.
i guess so.
if you download the driver on the asus page for the wifi you can see that it says:
Copyright (c) 2004, Atheros Communication Inc.

doesn't mean there aren't other drivers, like ath in OpenBSD.
if there is atheros hardware, a windows driver by the company seems reasonable...
or no

we're gonna install OpenBSD on it soon.
oh, and the Atheros wireless chipset is 5212, which is supported by OpenBSD 4.2!

haha, I came here first and posted that, then casually copied and pasted it to BSDnexus. then I realized a little bit later that I posted a screen of ttf on there and I laughed.
