so I was thinking about this the other day, and I think that I spend too much time thinking about the framework by which I want to organize my thoughts, express myself, and ultimately just consolidate my knowledge.
I spend so much time thinking about what would be the best way to do this that I just get frustrated and end up not doing it.
- keeping everything I want to write down in one journal seems inefficient because there's no way that I can think of to search for things in it.
- using some sort of digital means just kind of turns me off in general, but the real reason I don't do it is because I don't know what digital means I'd use. blog software? just text files? how would I organize them? should I code my own system? what should the categories of entries be (I guess I could make it so I'd be able to dynamically create categories)? should entries have tags (I kind of don't like lists of tags or keywords; they look inconsistent and messy.)?

- quotations (from books, music, etc.)
- thoughts (revelations, newly discovered wisdom, etc.)
it would be awesome to have a portable means of doing this, because when I read something I want to remember on the train or something it's a pain in the ass to type a reminder into my phone or something. transcribing text from books kind of sucks too, as opposed to typing them.

yeah I should probably just do that. but them I'm uncertain of whether I'd like to make everything public. maybe I could have public and private blog posts?
of course that also means coding ughughguhgugh.
