can you recommend photo album or photo blog software? (that preferably uses php/{mysql|postgresql}.)
i'm trying to see if there's a good, free substitute for flickr or if i should just buy a damn flickr pro account already.

good question. I was half-ass looking into photo album software and couldn't find anything that looked decent.

i had think tank forums using the flash stuff from simpleviewer at one point.
i <3 flash based galleries.

I despise simpleviewer because I can't click on thumbnails and open the full images in browser tabs. so lame.

well then buy the source and modify it and add a dl button.

it's not even open source?
all I want is the good old days when tiny images that were hyperlinks just liked to a bigger image. or at least a separate page with the bigger image on it.

i have no problem with non open sourced stuff. in fact i prefer BSD license to GPL any day of the week when it comes to open source.

it's just that simple, popular web tools like that always seem to be open source, and that's usually a selling point of them. I'm surprised there's no open source alternative.
I guess it's not widespread enough for me to whine about it too much, but it annoys me when sites use it.

oh, and I was thinking of coding some simple web album software to upload family photos to and allow family members to browse.
goddamnit :(

if I'm not mistaken, that site provides photo hosting and not any software I could run on my server.
