nice. how much $ for the PO box?
$18 for 6 months, but it varies by post office. This was the cheapest one and it happened to be in the downtown area.

that's not bad at all. I'd like a PO box at some point.
I like it, even though I got the smallest size "#1". I like it also because of the location. It's about 3 blocks from school so on my way to class I just stop at the downtown park area, put a nickel in the meter if I don't find one loaded up already, and check. If I have significant time already on the meter then I'll just sit on a bench and watch this squirrel that's usually there in the tree.
i have one on campus here--it's about $50/year, i think.
it's pretty sweet to have a p.o. box so close to where i always am, though. PRIME REAL ESTATE
I guess I should post how I'm losing my room.
I moved in for $500/mo. at this pretty nice spot on January 4, 2008. The homes are new, built in 2006/2007. I was renting from a guy named Kevin. He said he was in the process of selling his house and that it takes quite a bit of time for things to go through and that he would at least have it six months. This was when we were making the agreement to rent. I move my stuff up there on January 14 and settled in.
It was only a little over 2 weeks when I find out from a bank representative at the door that the house was going into foreclosure and that the previous owner hasn't paid his mortgage for a certain amount of consecutive times. I was told to call the agent regarding the arrangement of a "cash for keys" program where they would give me a date to move out by peacefully in exchange for money if I give up my keys. I called and they notified me that I did not have to pay Kevin any longer.
The next day I transcribed a copy of the document the bank representative gave me, and emailed it to my roommates. One of my roommates gave the document to Kevin and he just said not to worry, and didn't talk to us about it, staying in his room. A bit later Kevin sent out an email requesting for us to pay on time or penalty fees would be charged. On February 4, he dropped off letters at each of our doors saying that we owe $10 per day from the beginning of the month, so a 'bill' for $540 was there.
We didn't pay, and one of the roommates just left at this point. He asked for his deposit back and Kevin did honor it, only because he said in front of everyone that he would. The next day he notified us all that we would not be getting the deposit from him, and that the bank would pay us the deposit. Now what I think is happening is that Kevin is speaking with the Realtor company, convincing them that they can just give us $250 and we'll be fine for the cash for keys program. But he did not agree on it, and is pushing for more money.
Aside from all this, Kevin has been an asshole on a variety of levels. Since the beginning of the month, he's been unplugging the internet access whenever he leaves the house. Then after Feb. 4, he said the kitchen is shut down, so he took the stove knobs, took the plug for the microwave, turned the water off on the sink. We still operated and turned everything back on. He called the police because one of the roommates put her car in the garage in front of his motorcycle. During this escapade Kevin mentioned that she wasn't paying rent. The officer asked me if I'm not paying my rent either, and if think it's moral that I'm not paying my rent and still living here. The irony is that Kevin is the one who wasn't paying his mortgage, and knows that he can still take advantage of the system, and further scams individual renters.
At this point, Kevin has more or less moved out. Most of his stuff isn't here now, he took the refrigerator on Sunday, spoiling a good amount of our food. He took the dishwasher, which isn't too important, except for a drying area. He took the furniture and all that.
I'm pretty much moved out as well. I have had my stuff in my car since the 4th of February. The only thing I've been storing in there is my bed, a few blankets and my storage shelves. This previous weekend I was able to move the stuff from my car to a relatives' home that lives near by.
In other news I have another room set up, in this amazing home in Milpitas, right next to Cisco facility, and the lightrail :) along with my roommates who are fun to kick it with.
francis and i are coming to visit you over spring break
i'm pretty sure we're gonna waterboard this kevin guy

wow, that is a horrible story. bad living situations are so miserable and stressful.
I'm not stressed, but it has put a bit of a fuck in the bucket that is school.
I'm in a new place again! lr is visiting during spring break!
So the updates on the housing:
As I mentioned before there was a cash for keys program. It needed to be agreed to by all of us and well Kevin didn't agree on the exit day and was a dick once again. Now we were waiting for a second offer hopefully larger, but the real estate company said the only next option is eviction and just to wait for the notice. I'm more or less out. I have the bed frame and box spring there still but that's it.
I'm going to attempt to sue the guy for my deposit since he won't give it to me freely.
