zabasearch didn't find me :). I don't use my real name on the net if I can help it. I'm scared of crazy people deciding to stalk me.

real name is used for shopping sites or any other sites that require my credit card info and stuff like that. asemi is for everything else!

pipl just sounds like a search engine with robots that ignore robots.txt. I didn't really look into it any further though.

the law is no protection

Also known as "invisible web", the term "deep web" refers to a vast repository of underlying content, such as documents in online databases that general-purpose web crawlers cannot reach. The deep web content is estimated at 500 times that of the surface web, yet has remained mostly untapped due to the limitations of traditional search engines.

Unlike a typical search-engine, Pipl is designed to retrieve information from the deep web, our robots are set to interact with searchable databases and extract facts, contact details and other relevant information from personal profiles, member directories, scientific publications, court records and numerous other deep-web sources.

so maybe it just reads PDFs or something?

I'm glad my moderate amount of care about using my full name on the web has kind of paid off.

My name happens to match a detroit lions linebacker. As well as a large number of irish, english, and aussie network admins. If we ever all teamed up the world would tremble before us.

a combination of a small web footprint and a highly generic name has shielded me from all the search engines 15 mins of boredom and that web page can buy.

that's kind of a meaningless statement without any clarification.

do you not believe that privacy is attainable, desirable, both, or neither?

my statements are not intended to be meaningful :P

I do the same thing. well, not so much thinking that people are always watching, but thinking that someone crazy might decide to stalk me or something.

i never put my blinds down, so i assume people watch me walk around naked and poop and everything

if i'm walking in a hallway and there are fish eyes in the doors, i assume people are watching me. same with surveillance cameras and every other possible means

and if i walk around my apartment talking to myself too much, i'll think, "larz you gotta shut up so they dont hear you! just think to yourself!" so i think to myself. then i let them watch me poop through my window

i live in my own 1984

it's kind of awesome

i'm psychotic :(
