nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
just wanted to start a thread for healthy food. please post recipes and suggestions!

cinnamon apple oatmeal
1 apple, preferably McIntosh, cored and coarsely chopped
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch kosher salt
2 cups water
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1/4 cup toasted pecans

Combine the apple, oats, cinnamon, and salt in a large microwave-safe bowl water, and stir in the water. Cover and seal with plastic wrap or a tight fitting lid and heat in the microwave on high until apples are soft and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 8 minutes. Stir in the maple syrup. Divide between 2 bowls and top with the nuts. Serve immediately.

that oatmeal sounds really good, andyp. I regularly make oatmeal with brown sugar and maple syrup, but I've never thought of using apples and cinnamon!

Who seriously uses rolled oats? Use steel cut oats and you won't regret it. ;)

steel cut oats look weird.

I get the "quick oats," which just look like they've been kind of chopped up (but different from the picture of steel cut ones I saw), for oatmeal, and regular oats for stuff like apple crisp.

well, one of my new favorite snacks is green olives stuffed with almonds.

this is healthy in the sense that it's a fruit and a nut. it's unhealthy in the sense that nuts and olives are almost pure fat. but,
