so, i have two essays due this week, one in epistemology & metaphysics and the other in ethics.
here are my topics:
E&M: Explain and evaluate McTaggart’s argument against the reality of time.
ethics: In Hume’s view, moral evaluations are not the kinds of things that can be the objects of knowledge. (a) Explain, in your own wo rds, three arguments Hume offers for this position. Be sure to cite evidence from text to back up your attribution of these arguments to Hume. (b) Are these arguments convincing? For any one of the arguments you’ve discussed in (a), give at least one furt her argument for why it is not convincing, and at least one further argument as to why it is convincing. Briefly explain why you find one of these further arguments, if either, more compelling than the other.
I also have three midterms... sleeping will be a luxury
aren't moral evaluations synthetic propositions?
also, (applied) ethics sucks.
yeah applied ethics sucks, but thankfully this isn't applied... i think
haven't started this paper though, working on the time piece. it looks pretty straightforward, just have to do some side reading on competing theorists.
this time essay is a BEAST
i found out my prof wrote a book entitled time, language, and ontology: the world from the b-theoretic perspective
suffice to say i'm a little terrified at the prospect of him evaluating me
haha awesome
yeah, some of my phil prof's pubs are unimpressive, but some are extremely impressive.
other news:
two midterms. one HR exam, which is more of an IR (industrial relations) exam. i actually really enjoy IR, if finance doesn't work out i could totally see myself working in labour law.
also an econ exam. this is troubling as i have skipped *every* class, so i have to learn half the course in two days. it isn't proving too difficult.
then i get to go home (back to london) on saturday though for reading week. not sure what i'll do there other than hang out with high school people as my LDR is kaput.
> it isn't proving too difficult.
duh. it's econ!

Is this just a philosophy essay thread?
it is me ttf-blogging the trials and tribulations of this week from hell
here goes, industrial relations in t minus 45 minutes
done it, i hate it when you expect an exam to be heavy on content, you study damn hard... and it is light on content.
at least i have some idea of how econ will play out.

.. maybe I should have actually read the thread.
I had a killer trig test on Monday. I found out I have a PERFECT Quiz Average in Trig that same day. That fuckin sucks. I CANNOT falter now. I have a killer chemistry test.
Note that they are killer because I haven't read the material.
Also, Stats is going good. I got a 95 on my first quiz, and a 70 on the second quiz. Why is the 70 good? I went to Stats yesterday and the professor is adding 25 points to each grade because the test was fucked.
70+25=95
Basic Math FTW
gatz> I CANNOT FALTER NOW!
AHHHHHHHH! YEAAAAAAAA
just a few more hours to go until i can get out of this damn library for a few weeks
okay, clocked 6.5 hours, i'm finishing this hume essay by midnight.
the fact that i got 4 hours of sleep and have consumed nothing but caffeine is not helping my thinking processes
phew, finished a first draft, i want to get out of here, it's a fucking friday night and i'm in the library.
fuck, what a terrible week. at least it's over

My spring break studying is NOT going well.
gotta churn out another essay by saturday
not on essays, but i have co-opted this thread for my own purposes.
for my metaphysics exam i have some pretty hardcore topics.
time - got that down pretty well
mereology (object identity) - this stuff is way over my head
personal identity - got it
a priori knowledge - got the old school thinkers, not the contemporary ones as well
but i have to learn it all for tomorrow morning... so...
some guy is in the library next to me and is literally whispering all his notes out loud. what the fuck
you have class on saturday or something?
no, exam on saturday morning (outside of class)
oh
