the law is no protection
I thought it seemed like time for a new plans thread, since I was formulating a new list of plans which have been kind of changed around and reworked from my previous ones and it seemed like a lot of peoples' plans in that thread were either being accomplished or dying.
anyway...
my tentative big plan right now is:
- get another job this summer (in addition to my current job) unless my current job can give me more hours.
- live with my mom this fall so as to not be tied down to a lease when I...
- graduate undergrad Winter '08.
- ride my bike all over the place.
- go to grad school somewhere for education Fall '09. (I have no idea where.)
way to be asemi!
-move to a new house
-keep on top of classwork
-commute the lightrail to school
-be frugal until Europe
-active in clubs: sierra, school, hiking.
-take photos
-explore the bay area
-visit museums
good job on the creation. i've been considering making this thread.
posting my plan will take some work--i'll have it up here in a few days.
what are you planning on doing in grad school asemi?
asemisldkfj
the law is no protection
I'm planning on doing something related to education. not sure what I want to focus on yet. maybe urban education.
I talked to a professor of mine tonight and she says she thinks the graduate program at Boston College would be great for me. she's awesome, so I trust her on that. I need to start looking into this grad school shit for real.
asemisldkfj
the law is no protection
I'm also gonna talk to her again on Thursday. talking about stuff I'm interested in with someone who knows a lot about it is so unbelievably gratifying.
Updated plans. Brilliant Idea.
Completed:
Went to Ashland Oregon
Moved to Vancouver BC
Got a job as a bicycle Mechanic.
Second Stage:
Pay off debt.
Hang out with people, develop new connections.
Find a hobby/interest.
Hook up with some sweet girl.
Volunteer with some gay/lesbian community stuff.
quit smoking.
cook more complete balanced meals.
There should probably be like one more stage or something but I really would like to get all of the above things in order before I go crazy bat shit insane on the others. I kinda like how my previous short term goals came together.
i don't want to get too ahead of myself so i'll keep it to 2008
- get up to speed with my new job (there's a lot related to this, a bit much to discuss here)
- get a gym membership and lose at least 20lbs
- start playing hockey again
- finish up my classes this semester (hopefully within a week or two)
- register for summer classes and finish degree
it's all question marks after that. i know what i'd like to do but like i said before, i don't want to get ahead of myself.
DaGr8Gatzby
Drunk by Myself
Here is what I got lined up:
- Make Math my bitch instead of vice versa
- Learn Server 2008 and Active Directory
- Get my RHCE and CCNA
- Get Promoted
- Ace the rest of my tests this semester
spring break, march 7-16
surgery at mayo clinic, march 26
i'm pretty excited--i won't be on vicodin constantly, so my school work will improve. although i'll probably miss three weeks of school, so i'll probably file for incomplete marks and finish my semester in late may. :/
DaGr8Gatzby
Drunk by Myself
Yea Spring break is gonna rock.
asemisldkfj
the law is no protection
I just started to accrue vacation, personal, and sick time at work! now I need to take a real vacation sometime. I'll probably let it build up even more and use it this summer sometime.

... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
I've abandoned my current film projects and attempted to purge the demons that lurk in my head. By demons I mean this horror film I've been working on for nearly two years.
So, within the next few weeks I should have some footage shot for the opening shots.

I have 15 hours vacation, 9 personal (I think), and something ridiculous like 19 for sick (I think.).
I can't wait to go on vacation and get paid for it.
DaGr8Gatzby
Drunk by Myself
SCratch that .. I have 10 hours accrued PTO. Had to use 8 for a sick day. But hey!! HELL YEA! I get the same check!
so here's my plan for school:
----------
spring 2008
econ 502 - macro thy
econ 569 - research meth
thesis work
summer 2008
thesis work
fall 2008
thesis work
spring 2009
econ 501 - micro thy
econ 562 - econometrics ii
----------
i might get a job for may through december.
i'll try to get a bowel resection by december.
i'll try to finish a bunch of projects by december.
then i'll dominate my spr09 classes and graduate in may 2009 with my dumb MS.
yay plans.
short term
1. ace exams
2. get normal sleep
3. don't waste time
long(er) term
1. move my stuff out of kingston and back to london
2. decide if i want to do outdoor work or indoor work this summer
3. go on a 2 week canoe trip in august
4. read a lot this summer
5. get in shape this summer: go on bike trips: get bike shoes and gear
6. get motivated for school in the fall
asemisldkfj
the law is no protection
my plans are essentially the same, BUT I will be taking two courses this summer so as to only have two courses to finish up my bachelor's in the Fall. I'll be commuting from kind of far, so only coming in two days of the week for two courses will be awesome.
make my own t-shirts (i.e. silkscreen)
complete:
-move to a new house
-visited SFMOMA*
-explored some of the bay area*
-took some photos @ blackalicious concert and around the bay, and LA*
-renewed sierra club membership*
in progress:
-keep on top of classwork
-be frugal until Europe
-active in clubs: sierra, school, hiking.
-take photos
-explore the bay area
-visit museums
unlikely:
-commute the lightrail to school
Google tells me that it is cheaper to drive my car than to take the train. In that cost as well is of course a time cost. The difference is 14-18 min in the car versus 40min -1.3 hours on the different bus + train combos.
* designates new or revised plans from my first post in this thread.
Lastly I haven't spent much the last few weeks, and I'm going to try to keep it that way. I've been watching movies at home, eating in, and not driving! I need to find a better way to make cash at home :) (I am becoming an mturk worker).

the only ones online are on my facebook account. maybe i'll toss some more up on my site in a while.
i found a reference to my transfer in oct/07.

I was gonna suggest a plans v, but I'm still working on most of my plans from here.
I'm working a couple of jobs right now. still not making as much as I should be, but the second job sucks and I'll get by.
I'm not sure where I'm going to live in the Fall right now so I've gotta figure that out.
okay, list:
- figure out where I'm living in the Fall
- take the GRE
- take the MTEL (Mass. teacher licensing test)
- apply to grad schools
- figure out what I'm doing in Spring '09 (x-country bike tour, shorter weekend bike tours around New England + work, ?)

>- figure out what I'm doing in Spring '09 (x-country bike tour, shorter weekend bike tours around New England + work, ?)
Bike tour!
yeah!
your bike tour should be the underground railroad one... i WILL be in london ontario in spring 09 and i can definitely give you a place to stay then
asemisldkfj

if I do the cross-country tour that will certainly be one of my stops! probably from Boston --> NYC (maybe by way of Providence) --> Canada, then down the UGRR path all the way to Alabama!

Maybe you need to open a bike thread. And then take suggestions.
If you're still heading to LA, biking in Pasadena rocks!
plan:
read the news. i used to read the news all the time and i knew so much about current events. i'm a bit out of the loop now, and i want to be back in. not only are current events interesting but they are great conversation topics with strangers/acquaintances (and i need to work on my small talk if i'm going to succeed in finance).
phi_
... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
I have a week off starting tomorrow, so short term first:
(for the bike)
- pull off the pad
- put a solo seat on
- build hard-case luggage, or a level platform to affix a large backpack
- buy and affix a small wind screen
(for the house)
- clean floor to ceiling

- rearrange my room and clean out all the crap
- level pool table
(personal stuff)
- meet back up with my ex to talk stuff over
- ask out this girl I work with
- get birthday gifts for my sister and one of my friends

- take final undergrad class in the Spring and graduate
phi > i want to see your banjo skills. like i still want to see your film skills :(
and our fourth plans are still growing.

Well, I have a poor quality short on YouTube. It didn't translate as well to screen as I had hoped, but I like to think of it as a sign of things to come.
I'm still trying to get my DP to post the zombie short. He's being stubborn.
As for my banjo skills... I've only begun playing as of a week ago. I can rock a few songs, but I'm still learning how to construct chords and so on.
