yeah I'm not on this shit. I hate maintaining a presence on social networking sites; then I end up compulsively checking them when I'm bored and on the web.
I also just generally like to have a slim presence on the web. a couple of nights ago I was trying to delete accounts I have on sites I don't use anymore. I hate when sites don't give you that option :/.
I have a spreadsheet of every site I have an account on, the username for that site, and the password number (in case you all forget, I have six different passwords (numbered 1-6, duh), all for different situations.).

i didn't say it doesn't make sense that they're getting redirected; i said it is a possible cause for why they are getting redirected. i would think that facebook would give a message such as "this profile is restricted."

i've had a facebook since i started traveling as everyone i meet no matter where they are from has a facebook and its easy to keep in touch. but now facebook is creeping me out with all their data. i would just delete it but i dont want to loose contact with those people i cant find otherwise. so i deleted everyone else, my photos, and locked my wall and all that shit.

I just tested sending an MMS picture message to facebook using the m.facebook.com email address given to you on the mobile page. Works out pretty nicely. I wasn't sure I could MMS to email addresses on my phone with just the text messaging plan.

I don't see how wave is different from irc....
because if it was the same as IRC then I would be able to set up my own IRC server and then join a channel on some random other IRC server and have all of the edits/updates/other content of the channel reflected on my IRC server.
the closest comparison is Jabber. doesn't really compare to IRC. and these are just protocol differences, not stuff like real-time editing/typing/revisions, embedded attachments, widgets, etc.

facebook chat blows. I just read this which isn't really that big of a deal except for lax-seeming control of access. but an interesting and worthwhile read still.
and kind of pushing me a little closer to deleting mine. the semblance of privacy and the treatment of it by almost everyone else as being private is getting annoying as facebook the company wants to move into the same market as twitter. twitter is more fun anyway.

i hate facebook chat. does it have some quicktime components? cause everytime someone sends me a message through facebook chat, firefox gives me all these popups about how i need to install quicktime, yet i can still chat fine.

I got tired of keeping up with unchecking and checking boxes in my privacy settings to counteract stupid privacy policy decisions by facebook, so I deleted my account.

Once all the shit blows over from my best friend's death, I'm gone from Facebook.
i want to delete mine for sure. only thing i use it for is keeping in touch with people i meet traveling and swap pictures with them and keep in touch for the next time to meet up. thats is massivly convenient. convenience vs security i guess.
