Sorry. I'm dumb.
Studying chemistry and we're on avogadro's number. And I'm a fuckin idiot because I just figured this shit out. Basic Algebraic manipulation:
You basically have to derive a mass per gram that is defined by Avogadro's #:
6.022*10^23 (This is the number of carbon atoms in exactly 12g of a pure isotope of Carbon with mass 12 amu)
Carbon's atomic number is 6
Atomic mass = 12.01
From this, the secondary number is derived:
6.022 * 10^23 C atoms 12 amu
________________________* ______________ = 12 G
1 1 C atom
This will cancel out to:
6.022 * 10^23 C amu = 1 G
And from this we derive:
1 gram
1 amu = _________________ = 1.661 * 10^-24
6.022 * 10^23 C
1. Calculate amu
2. Multiply by the derived unit from Avogadro's number
Ex. - Find the mass of an atom of Fe (Note this is a random element I chose)
1. Calculate amu
Element: Fe
Atomic #: 26
Atomic Mass: 55.85
Amu = 55.85 amu
2. Multiply by derived value
55.85 amu 1.661 * 10^-24 g
___________ * ______________ = 9.277 g/atom
1 1
.... I'm a loser ... fuckin saturday night ... whatever.
Edit - Second Try
Lucas - Used Terminal.app to get an actual monospaced font ... Like the final result?
