Has anyone here read _God and the State_ by Mikhail Bakunin? I guess he was one of the main anarchists in the late 1800's. I have just read the beginning so far but I like his description of religion. I guess the premise of the book is that the state cannot exist without religion of some sort, that some form of irrational construction is necessary to enable coercion. Being somewhat libertarian, this appeals to me. Thoughts?
You should be able to google it and find a text.

Bakunin was bat shit insane. But I tend to agree with him sometimes. Sometimes.
