i'm moving to the uk in two days. i am taking my x60 + one of the 250gb drives from my desktop and putting it in an enclosure. i'm not sure whether i should take it with me on the carryon or put it in the luggage (regarding security)

ship it with a carrier if it's really important.

otherwise, take it carry-on.

well, i'm just worried they are going to be like- this is a bomb. my laptop battery is also unchargeable and at 5%, so hopefully they won't make me turn it in. i need to buy a new batt in england.

the law is no protection
I've always brought my MacBook through security in a carry-on bag, including charger.

never brought any other computer peripherals, so I'm not sure. I imagine it depends on the airport, because at least in the US, security is the airport's deal, not the airline's.

yeah. and you're in canada, so i have no idea what security is like for you. in the u.s., you'd have tsa and homeland security and customs. \o/

well the enclosure died today

it turned off randomly a few times, i turned it on and the cord started burning and sparking.
i really hope it was the cheap enclosure not the power converter
