The ability to detect flaws. I'm serious, so many people can't seem to do that.

I think that the ultimate purpose of criticism ideally should be the improvement of what you are criticizing. a huge annoyance of mine is when people complain about or criticize something and don't consider how to actually make things better. I think this is unproductive and in some cases counterproductive because it just makes whoever has a stake in what is being criticized defensive and annoyed.

nothing is more obnoxious than someone complaining about something like global warming but not actually having any idea of the scientific research behind it or possible solutions. if you truly care about something, learn about it and think about how to actually fix it, don't just grasp onto causes that make you feel better about yourself.

Your comments work just as well for modern art as for global warming. Yeah, ignorance masked by blind criticism is equally repugnant in any context.
