from my experience ( not a smoker of anything ) as an impartial third party... people who smoke marijuana tend to be healthier than those who smoke cigarettes.

also, i've not seen anyone get physically addicted to marijuana the way people get addicted to cigarettes.

so... from a health standpoint yeah it makes sense.

taxing marijuana... opening a new market for cigarette manufactureres to move into... ( thus allowing them to more effectively address health concerns in their current products... ) is economically great.

and legalization of marijuana would cut the market out from under organized drug gangs in mexico... coupled with recent crackdowns there it may do a great deal to make the mexican border a lot safer for everyone.

It's a win all around. Especially when you consider the crazy draconian laws that put good people in prison over inhaling the fumes from a plant. I don't think there's a single sane person on earth who has a problem with this.
