if you want to save time i'd rip w/ eac, encode to flac then use dbpoweramp's multi-encoder to convert to 320/V0. although from your profile you're just uploading lossless stuff at first.

oh, and i really like their philosophy. user rips are the best. it is nice to know that if i download a flac of an album i'm getting the whole album so well that it might be more accurate than playing the original cd and listening to it (b/c of the error correction).

right before oink died, i started ripping flac. i was going to backup all my cds in flac, get some decent uploads on oink, then re-download my entire collection in v0 or flac. (my collection has about 75 mutts, 110 under 192kbps, and 50 in m4a/ogg.)

worthy plan. eac flac -> dbpoweramp v0 is the way to go.
if you want to use itunes you can even use dbpoweramp to multiencode alac + v0 at the same time.

By the way, I see their ratio requirements make sense and are reasonable ... I remember this "1.0 or higher ratio or you get BANNED YOU LEECHING ASSHOLE" attitude which makes no sense IMHO ... Or maybe that was what.cd? Or maybe I have been smoking too many carpets?
i always thought waffles.fm was pretty fair... what.cd used to be super draconian

Yeah, I must of mixed things up with what.cd, waffles seems nice.
I have some mixed feelings about the glorious burden -- The music is great, the lyrics are great, I like Tim Owen's vocals, but .... The album sounds like it's been recorded in a tin can or like it's been recopied 3 times from youtube.
The recording quality is just terrible. I'm not sure if this was intentional ... But I can't stop being annoyed by it, I got the FLAC to see it it would matter with my 320kbit MP3, I guess it matters /slightly/, but not really a whole lot.
I don't know ... Maybe it's just me ... I mentioned it to a friend once and he had no idea what I was talking about ...
Other than that, I have a soft spot for iced earth, it was actually one of the first albums I bought (Alive in Athens, I'm not really into live albums but this one is just awesome) and it was also the first live concert I attended (Horror show tour).
I haven't really had time to listen to the new album with Matt Barlow again though :(

With "everything else" I download and can seed up to 1 fairly easy (Mostly use demonoid which doesn't have ratio requirements). Keeping a ratio of 1 is easy.

I wish I could assign a category in rtorrent and filter my views based on that ... With 21 seeding right now it's already becoming quite cluttered ...

I've been using it for years without the problems described in that ticket.
A couple of years ago when rtorrent was very new it crashed quite often (~1 time per day or more often), but those problems have long since passed (Long before this ticket).
In any case, I don't have much choice, since I don't have a non-FreeBSD system that runs rtorrent ...

well, you have to have a lot of torrents going to get that issue. you said you're seeding 21 atm, so that makes sense. i'm seeding 970, and it cannot resume a session.
Yeah, I guess those kind of numbers could make a (big) difference.
rtorrent issue tracker has a whole bunch of spam in it, some months old :(

We have suffered a massive hard drive failure. The last 2 months of uploads are lost. However, stats and accounts are not affected. We will combine this weekend's updates with the recovery efforts to minimize downtime.
