I always check dependencies especially on servers to prevent crap like this, in ports there are a few useful targets you can use (depends, all-depends-list)

Here's a patch to allow server-only builds, specify WITH_SERVER from the commandline or with make config

I didn't feel like properly updating the plist, you can use pkg-plist.server if you want i.e.:
make install -DWITH_SERVER PLIST='${PKGDIR}/pkg-plist.server'

oh, and armagetron HATES crossfire.
yay figured it out, apparently the new version HATES duel core systems as well. setting the affinity fixed everything for me.
