Yeah I am extremely curious how they did that...the only thing I can guess is that they somehow sent the round through something thin right before the gel that didn't break it apart but did upset the orientation.

Some rounds fired out of certain rifles have a tendency to flip end over end. The Japanese discovered the phenomena during WW2 when their rifles would occasionally take someones arm off. Since that time most countries have agreed the use of fragmenting bullets and tumbling or spawling bullets is a war crime.
That being said, it's impossible to predict how every round will react there was supposedly a high rate of tumbling bullets with the M16. This is something the US received a lot of grief over.
