cursed, but the demons i confronted with dispersed
every once in a while something gets me going (in this case it was carl sagan) and i start trying to picture the 4th dimensional hypercube. probably the first time was when i was a kid and i read "a wrinkle in time"

anyway, it makes my brain hurt.. a lot

i sent my 18 y/o college freshman brother some stuff on sagan and this is what he wrote me back:

"that video was stupid. that was created like 40 years ago and the guy looks like a fag"

i am thankful at least once a day for being adopted

I realize commonly you would only call your sister or brother's wife or husband, brother in law or sister in law.

Technically though I believe adoption is just a legal binding to you. Maybe I'm mistaken?

Maybe you consider growing up with a person who has adopted you as true family and legal bonds don't apply?

In either case I don't want to seem insensitive to a possibly insulting proposition, I just see it from the legal/genetic aspect.

yeah I would imagine that in the same way an adopted kid would call their parents their mother or father, not their mother-in-law or father-in-law, they'd call their siblings brothers or sisters.

adoption is probably legally binding but it's more than just legal and I would assume often more than the relationship you have with, for example, a sibling's spouse.

Yeah but in that case asemi I think they would usually say mom's boyfriend, rather than dad, unless they were unusually tight.

And now that I look at it greene said he was adopted young.

Um, but still if someone doesn't have values you or your family does, and you're an adult now, making the distinction of legal brother might be sufficient. Of course I'm speaking about people who HATE CARL SAGAN.
