... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
Ubuntu? :(
That's all I have to say about that.

I like the idea of Google trying to compete with Microsoft in OS's because they're one of the few companies in the position to do it. I think google could do something more ambitious than a customized Debian/Gnome distribution.
oh, they can. and they will. it just takes time.
I heard on one podcast that google says it will be just for internal use. But I bet it will leak to the net. Nothing stays private anymore.

What if they claimed it was for internal use, and released it before Microsoft has a chance to compete. This seems to be the model with MSN versus Google. Have any of you been to MSN's beta? it's fucking shit.
Does it look anything like this?

i was thinking recently that google earth coupled with a gps device and a route determination engine would be perfect for an embedded os for cars that could update constantly via wifi. imagine being able to look up a place in your car and having directions to it instantly not to mention their scanning of buildings in 3d to add to the more visual (not necessarialy useful) part of it. any thoughts on the practical application of that?
also couple with that: weather updates on the route selected. news that could be read to you via a speech emulation feature. stuff like that. the only issue with searching would be a way of inputting search parameters, speach recognition maybe?

At any rate, I think it's going to be interesting to see what happens. I don't think Google (comprised of many people that have had previous bouts with MS) is just going to sit on thier asses.
