who has what kind. what do you have now and what have you had in the past. benefits of bi-fold vs tri, or card carriers with money clips, or streight money clips, or rubberbands? but i'm interested in something that can hold my cards because i generally carry more cards than bills.
traditionally i've had a tri-fold. the bad thing is that it's not the right dimensions for folding dollars and it just funks bills up. otherwise i have no problem with them and i've used mine for years.
i've talked to asemi and he suggested a hemp kind with velcro. he linked me to similar ones and i found some on my own:

I couldn't find my wallet anywhere, but then i didn't look for very long either.
I love this wallet and will never go back. I don't hold very much cash either, but i hold cards. One thing i am a little up set about is the wallet ruffs up my debit cards/cards all together, but this might be the same with all wallets, but i thought i would throw that out.
Over all, i love it, plan and simple.

nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
tri folds are way too fatty in my pocket.. bi fold takes my cake.

I have a card carrier I made out of loose leaf paper and packing tape. It holds about 6 cards, which is all I'll need. I never have enough money to warrant carrying a wallet with cash in it, anyway. But, my wallet falls apart easily and is currently held together not only with the packaging tape, but with stickers I've found around the library as well.
i use a hemp change purse (yes, a purse) i got fron some new age boutique near my house. it's just big enough to hold cards and bills folded in half, and it's not fat, which is my main concern. plus it has served me well for over two years so far with very little wear.
i've had a fossil leather bifold for probably over four years. little/no wear. hold three cards + id + cash. perfect. stored in front left pocket. id + school id + debit + visa + amex + cash = ready.

I rock the front right pocket :). mine is trifold and made of hemp and fastens with velcro. my only complaint is the same as dp, it fuxs up bills. once this wallet dies I'll probably look at bifold ones.

comes outta nowhere
yeah, i had a trifold before, and i like the bifold. mine has a center flap for an ID (with a hole to pull the ID out) and holds a ton of cards. I really don't see a purpose for trifold or velcro; they're just extra operations once the price comes up on the screen.
I refrained long enough from saying anything about the difficulting of pulling out.
I want to make use of the wallet that I have now since it's good leather, just that has become worn. I'm going to attempt to sew the leather, it seems thin enough to not be a problem for the machine. I came up with a design and have emptied the wallet and started deconstructing it. I even have some good new liner to use on the insides of the wallet!
i just received a wallet that's basically a money clip with a card holder attached to it.
i had one of those for a long time.. it's a sweet setup as well

Bifolds rock. I, however, am going to start using a checkbook type wallet. You just never know when that next business oppurtunity will come up.
As a little update I've been using a combination of a wad of cards rubberbanded, and then a slim aluminum business/credit card case for 3 cards: license, credit card, school id. I want something that fits all my cards in there since I use most of them regularly.
Here are some more wallets I've found:
http://www.tinymeat.com - 'hip' style bifolds mainly
http://www.all-ett.com - gross looking but holds tons of cards in a surprisingly thin manner.
http://alexiaabegg.blogspot.com/2006/03/fedex … allet.html - someone made a wallet out of fedex junk, shiny.
http://www.magellans.com/store/Fathers_Day_Gi … 200?Args=# - if you're manly and would like to have a gangster pouch.
mini style:
http://www.koyono.com/products/slimmy/description.html - slimmy
http://www.umbra.com/ustore/product.do?produc … colour=641 - tiny, techy
http://storus.com/ - minimal slide in, and money clip.
http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id … =cat102186 - 'magic' wallet. If you've never used one they are pretty fun to play with. makes it easy to stuff stuff in quickly and it is ergonomically enjoyable.
http://www.fossil.com - search for ML5573. pretty slim.
Tips:
* make a wallet out of a PCMCIA card case
* try a ducttape wallet
* binder clip
* rubberbands / girly hair bands

i rock the binder clip sometimes.

I've been rocking my loose-leaf paper + packaging tape wallet for a long while now. I have to admit, it's the best wallet I've used. I tried going back to a bifold, and it just doesn't cut it. I guess having a wallet this thin really grows on you.
fake homebrew stuff bothers me.

Bump.
I bought
http://www.fossil.com/shopping/product/detail … color=1836 today.
And to celebrate, I limited the amount of cards I own severely. I know carry three cards(DL, Debit, Library), 2 laminated papers (ACLU, and custom hack listed below), and my insurance.
Said hack is stolen from:
http://www.geekosis.com/viewPost.aspx?postID=16
Basically, I used milk.com/barcode to generate the barcodes from my savings cards (Krogers, CVS, etc) and printed them out onto one sheet and laminated it. Needless to say, it's the coolest thing I've done in a while. I'll post some scans pretty soon.

nice, i like the barcode server link.
phi_
... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
Oh, and with the barcode server--I don't remember if it's listed very clearly--if you want a caption over your barcode, like the name of the store it's meant for, you enter in the numbers like so:
xxxxxxx:name
Where xxxxxxx is the UPC and name is the caption. Spaces are allowed for the caption.
Enjoy. :)
Oh I'm in the market again.
http://www.productdose.com/article.php?article_id=4534 - list I found on digg
http://www.thejimi.com/wallet/ - slim and techy

http://www.poketo.com/wallets.htm - simple, pretty. I like "fette the filth 1" and the series by chris duncan. I don't think I'd sport any of them but I like the artwork.
http://www.sfbags.com/products/wallets/wallets.htm - I love waterfield but this wallet is too chubby for me :(

I'm ordering the all-ett bill fold right now.
Oh I ordered it but I cancelled. I didn't want to pay that much for a wallet. So I'm still on the search and the rubberband is sufficing for now.
i am going to buy a jimi in the next few weeks.
http://www.thejimi.com/
right now i have a gravis slim wallet, it is about 2.5cm thick. but the jimi is less than 1.5cm thick.
and all i need is 5 cards: student id, driver's license, health card, credit card, debit card.

I jacked a piece of a George wallet from WalMart a few months ago. It's got two clear slide-in spaces inside, then two spaces on the front. About half a cm. thick when full. I carry: DL, proof of insurance, debit card, credit card, discount card a la barcode generator, and proof of ownership of my motorcycle.
Genuine leather. Perfect.

ew @ plastic wallets. I can't imagine having something of that size that is hard in my pocket.
I'm going to list what I carry in my wallet:
- license
- boating certificate
- student ID
- grocery store discount card
- debit card
- credit card
- subway pass
- three library cards (I could probably not carry two of these.)
- rfid card thing to get into work
- Red Cross blood donor card
- health insurance card
this is why I need a wallet. that looks like a lot of stuff when I list it out! it's really not that bad though.
yeah, plastic wallets seem a bit cheesy but i like the form factor.
that is a lot of stuff, you can't really get rid of much though.
> I can't imagine having something of that size that is hard in my pocket.
not a fan of this sentence.

that sounds a little better I guess but you disgusting perverts might still laugh at it :).

from knife thread:
bp> i don't have much room as i am a front walleter.
lr> FUCK YES! such a superior carrying method, and so rare!
i've been a front pocketer (walleter?) for years now, never done the back pocket thing.
i just found these:

I used fake leather from an old laptop bag. Very nice material to work with.
I got mine for free after I fixed a shop owner's computer a couple of years ago.
