what are your plans?
i'm going to kick the shit out of this semester. bump my gpa and make my transcript look sweet.
then i think i'm gonna do some more photography on my own. i gotta go talk to my old instructor to see if i can use her dark room.
and i'm gonna seriously try to code the hell out of ttf. maybe a new jerxstation dictionary, larzincharge.com, and more as well.
and keep on reading. nothing wrong with bumping a novel or doing some serious philosophical consideration. all in good fun.
run with the dp-esque pump-up-and-out style thread.
dbrown's plans for the summer are as follows:
1. finish the book by may
2. ccna
3. a+ and net+
4. get my ipv6 lab running
5. take results from ipv6 project and convert to lab content for tolton and bruce
6. take at least one ccsp test
if i actually get all this done, i'll be way ahead of schedule.
My resolution for this month (March) :
- Re-learn/brush up C. Its been a long time (almost one and a half years since I left college)
since i touched C. Do some Unix systems level stuff. And maybe complete my chat system
project which I couldn't complete during college days.
- Save Rs. 2000/- from my salary
- Excercise regularly ( I bought some weights yesterday)
- Eat healthy
- Study ( need to clear my backlog from CS course )
summer goals for me are
get A+ and maybe net+
Keep up the exercise and hone the racquetball skills
Get a new job that pays around 10$ an hour
Build new comp system so I can have a server at my house

here are a few of my plans and goals:
- get back into playing piano. I played for 9 years until I was 16 and haven't played much since.
- make the NetBSD booth at LinuxWorld Boston a success
- save up money and be more disciplined about spending
- eat more healthily, have more energy
- play more sports: hockey (I still haven't skated this winter!), basketball and baseball once it gets warm out
- travel this summer, if I have the money. I want to go to TX.
- get through this semester of school, get a full-time job in the summer, and decide if I want to go back to school next year.
>play more sports: hockey (I still haven't skated this winter!)
damn, this was the first year since 5th grade that i didn't play hockey, but i am going to try to get back into the advanced league this next winter.
andyp
nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
well lets see..
-finish up highschool with some flying colors
-i'll probably be working a lot this summer, or maybe not.. we'll see
-get all my shit organized to move out
-take more pictures
-hike more often
-maybe start working out or something.. i'm too damn skinny
thats about it for this summer at least. I'll probably do a work study at college then who knows whats after that

>damn, this was the first year since 5th grade that i didn't play hockey, but i am going to try to get back into the advanced league this next winter.
I haven't played hockey in a league for a few years, and last year was the first year I didn't skate in a while. I don't want this year to end up the same, hockey is too much fun.
I want to do well in my classes:
http://www.thinktankforums.com/thread.php?thread_id=80
revising a bit:
phil - ethics
eng - critical thinking & writing about literature
phil - world religions
spch - interpersonal comm
credit hours: 12 @ 3 units x 4 classes
county work: 24 hours @ 3 days x 8 hours.
library work: 16 hours @ 3 days varying hours per day.
I'm trying to improve my writing abilities. I'm loading up on money and credit. I am exhausted all the time but it is what I want. I have a self-quote from a post I have formerly not made:
"Get tired. Been drained lately running, sprinting without the flagman at the finish. The tortoise isn't around and I'm not sleeping on the job. I've tried to be tireless full sprint, here is the comfort. In this hypocritically indolent state the core pain chaotically assembles as if cumulonimbus in emotion and revealed itself showering my jeans and fists, empowering my dreams and bliss. Get tired."
I also am seeking to apply more of the things I learn to my life. Some of the books and stories I've read so far this semester have been so meaningful I can't begin to explain.
Projected goals: more photography, database driven/elegant/concise/interactive projectdp, improve reciprocal ambition [next level material], work on attaining higher self, live under my means.
that quote is 75% dp-riddleshits. is it intended to confuse? just like slax/jk, you seem to delight in the absurd. mcriddleshits invariable seems to lead to absurdity.
It isn't intended to confuse, just to stimulate a bit of imagination. I don't want to make assumptions about what is not clear, I think it stands well enough on it's own. If it isn't just let me know :o
My plans are gonna change. Exams starting on 29th. :| I won't be able to brush up C the way i wanted to anymore. Got 2 exmas - Theory of Computation and Mathematics. Am really weak in maths and I really hate it.
I want to organize my time for studying and work.
9.00am - 6.30pm is work. I will have to study after work. Am also planning to get up early morning and study. But, its hard for me to do that. I can sleep late, but I can' get up before 7. :|
I want to know how you guys prepare for exams ? Any success secrets ? Also are there any good methods to study maths ? Its not like other subjects, IMO.

I've never had any special strategies for studying. I usually just re-read my notes or skim over the chapters of the text that the exam is on. For some people I know it helps to copy their notes down again to reinforce things, or copy important things from the text to paper for the same reason.
I'm still planning pretty much the same stuff. I need to get more into the idea of piano and buy a power adapter for my crappy electric keyboard until I can move an actual piano into my place next year.
Plans for the NetBSD booth are coming along nicely.
I haven't been doing that great with money, and probably spending too much on food, but I'm still working on it :P.
I've definitely been eating healthier, drinking orange juice every morning, eating more fruit and vegetables, getting stuff like Chex Mix instead of candy on my break at work.
I'm still hoping to travel in the summer. I might even be getting a nicer bike (with gears!) to travel on in the summer. If I'm really serious about this I probably need to start training and getting in better shape, so we'll see. I'll also have to sublet my room for a month or two or pay rent for any time I'm not here.
School is going decently, though I'm only really hoping to get Cs in a couple of my courses right now. We'll see how that turns out...
This feels like a LiveJournal entry.
I don't consider spending on food as a bad thing. Afterall, thats what we make most of the money for :) Also, good health is an asset. Asset's have more value and they don't degrade overtime. Health is a fixed asset IMO :)
the best way to study math is to do practice problems. and more practice problems. and more practice problems. math is simply pattern recognition. the more you see, the more patterns you see, the more quickly you'll learn it.
asemi: what netbsd booth? sounds interesting... (maybe you should start a new thread for this?)

I'm helping set up a NetBSD booth to be at LinuxWorld Boston. It's April 4-6, and we're going to be sharing a booth with FreeBSD. We still have details to work out, but it's pretty certain we'll be there. I'll probably start a thread on Nexus soon.
awesome!

... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
These are my goals for the year:
- Become vegetarian.
- Get another story published.
- Enroll full-time at UH or UT (I should know this by April)
- Begin production (finish?) of my opus-adaptation: R.U.R.
- Write seven more respectable short stories.
i'm gonna learn ruby on rails and begin work immediately on think tank forums, version 2.
ajax will be amazing. management will be amazing. just wait and see how this will shape up. an entirely new concept of internet discussion will spawn. i'll only be limited by my creativity.
we're looking at june 2006 for a working version. (i have to learn rails, ruby, ajax, and toss it all together.)
Best wishes larz.
here's the paper on lisa data analysis with genetic algorithms that i was involved in. i'm not sure if they are gonna get my name changed to "J L**** R********" before it is published. it'd be nice.
