haha, good thread. I wish I had a washing machine in my house. I have to travel to do laundry :(.
I like washing machines
and dryers, but only for socks and stuff
dishwashers are good too
electric kettles are not good. I'm with America on that one
wms, dryers, dwms good. electric kettles kick butt! i should get one ;)
i stick everything in my dish washer. if i didn't have a laundry machine I would probably try to do my dirty cloths in it too.

I like dryers. Smelling clothes being all warm and fabric softener-y is extremely comforting...
maybe if you grew up in somewhere like africa, clothes dryers wouldn't generate such nostalgic, comforting feelings.
is that because you would have never known such a thing existed? or is it more that you only have one set of cloths?
i'm assuming that most of africa doesn't have clothes dryers. and fabric softener requires a dryer. so if she grew up in africa, she probably wasn't comforted by softened fabrics as a kid, so she'd have less comfort from nostalgia now.
did that really need an explanation?

I just feel the need to point out here that there are a lot of developed parts of Africa that no doubt have such things as clothes dryers. Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and probably a lot more. one of my professors the other day said something like, "somewhere in Africa, or somewhere in the third world," and I didn't say anything and I should have. equating Africa with underdevelopment perpetuates that stereotype and I don't like it!
sure. i didn't say that all of africa lacks the technology. i said most of africa does.
anyway, it was an inside joke gone wrong.

Can I at least equate it with civil war and female genital mutilation?
Fuck you, I'm going to anyway!

On the other hand, asserting that the majority of Africa is NOT underdeveloped is far more incorrect. :)
In case anyone wants to know, when we washed clothes mom had me stick everything through this machine that looked like a giant pasta press. But it only squeezed out the extra water, then we had to take everything out back and hang it on clotheslines :D

Also, I like water heaters. You would not believe how shitty it is to always use cold water or to have to boil giant pot-fulls and then try and gauge when it's cool enough to pour on yourself...

who said the majority was not underdeveloped? I just said that there are developed parts and the whole stigma of backwardness and horrible things is a stupid thing to perpetuate.
i use softener without a dryer! will i die?

I testify to not witnessing any dryers in Senegal over a period of nine years :P
> i use softener without a dryer! will i die?
how does it work?
i've never tried without softener or with softener and dryer. the clothes are soft and smell good
