update #1, from Albany, NY while we wait for them to attach the sleeper car (which we will not be using because we are not rich) to the train.
we boarded the train in Boston around noon and are getting to Chicago around 10 tomorrow morning (central time).
1.5 hours in, listening to music:

5.5 hours in, beer for later from a cooler at a coffee shop here in Albany (wtf?):

I just had a coffee. we're getting back on the train in an hour or so. at least there's internet here (but not on the train).
yeah wtf? there is internet on the bus to Toronto from Boston which is eight hours or something and not on the train to Chicago which is 23? weak.
a can of soda I bought was two dollars. the bagel and cereal actually wasn't that bad.
I like beer + citrus. not orange so much as lemon though. I didn't have it with one though.
I actually don't think I read at all. for some reason I wasn't in the mood. maybe because I had just finished this book on quantum theory the night before.

I really like this picture :) It reminds me of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind for some reason
