so i've been living in thailand for a few months and got at least a few more (think i have to make it back to the US or Canada before snowboard season is over) and since I've been here I've broken my new camera, lost my cellphone and my ipod just died. pretty much sucks, especially the ipod. anyway my brother had an iphone and just got a 3G iphone. You can't use the 3G's in Thailand (not fully hacked yet). But I can use the older one. He shipped it to me (as it replaces the phone, ipod and camera, albiet not amazing cam but it will serve its purpose).
I've been looking up jailbreaking it to use with my Thai carrier here and it looks super simple. Anyone done this yet? any hiccups? should have it in the next day or two and will get it sorted right when it gets here. just wondering if anyone else is playing with these.

i've jailbroken it... you're trying to unlock it. i think it is pretty easy.

Unlocking a 3G iPhone requires a sim unlock tool.

but for the 3g's i read (just around the tubes) that you cant just buy them outright anymore, you actually have to activate them in store now and if you dont activate they start billing your account after 30 days (not sure if thats true, seems excessive) - plus 3g doesnt work here. are there any other new features on the 3g phones other than '3g' itself? plus scored this one for 25 bucks so its hard to beat.
