too bad IE is still the most hideous and terribly laid out browser in existence though.

One failure is that it’s hard to tell the difference between apps that are running and shortcuts that have been pinned to the taskbar.
hmm, sounds like the dock…:)
Ever wanted to see what was on your desktop without minimizing all your applications? Aero Peek is the feature for you. Mouse over the small area on the right-hand side of the taskbar and you get a glimpse of what’s on your desktop, allowing you to see shortcuts and gadgets.
so, uh, exposé?
I'm actually really curious about the new taskbar. I like the looks of it in screenshots. I've actually always kind of liked the windows taskbar in general, so I hope they haven't changed it too much.

Well I got it running in a vm but there really isn't anything to exciting so far. The task bar is the only change that means anything to me so far.
has anyone migrated, or tried this further?
i'm considering a dual boot test.
claims i'm interested in checking:
better power management
super taskbar
fast boot times
A classmate of mine uses Windows 7. He says it's a lot faster than XP.

I'm downloading the RC to put on my MacBook to use to administer Server 2008 boxes at work.

working great on my MacBook. only thing that doesn't work out of the box is two-finger context clicking and scrolling. everything else is perfect! I've been using it as a remote admin machine at work and it rules.
I got Windows 7 professional when I received this T61 from lr. It's working really well. I was able to get it through my school's MSDNAA account. They enable students to have a permanent key and a downloadable iso. I installed it using a usb drive :D
I found out one neat trick that may not be a surprise to vista users, but to get the menu's in regular folder windows you can just hit alt. I was looking all over for this until I happened to think of pressing alt and the menu came up.
It's running quite speedy on this machine. I use Chrome almost exclusively. I don't have Firefox installed.
My mate may be able to get it for me, could be a good replacement for the lamity which is Vista on this machine.

It's pretty nice, the only nagging problem that needs to be fixed (and this really isn't microsoft's deal, maybe?) are applications that cause non stop explorer.exe crashes. seen a lot of people report MSE has a nasty bug thats causing it. mine however is being caused by the last.fm scrobbler. spent the majority of my first week with it installed trying to figure out what was causing it, then i killed the scrobbler and it hasn't happened in almost 4 days.

UAC is seriously fucked still.
Other than that, Windows 7 is actually quite nice. I still wouldn't ditch OS X for it. The lack of a proper terminal just kills it for me. PuTTY is not enough of a terminal for me.
