do you know how to set the dnsdomainname on ubuntu?

www% hostname
 www.wingedleopard.net 
www% dnsdomainname
www% cat /etc/hostname
 www.wingedleopard.net 
www% cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1       localhost localhost.wingedleopard.net 
127.0.0.1       www www.wingedleopard.net 
www%

I thought DNS Domain name was only used for an NIS client?

Did you try /etc/host.conf?

Static IP? DHCP assigned? Did you figure this out yet?

what would i put into /etc/host.conf ?

it's a static ip.
