beautiful
my dad has one of those, i can't tell what model it is though.
that's where i got my 300mm lens from :D
send me the body! i'll pay you for it.
it's not mine and he uses it :)
bummer. :(

... and let the Earth be silent after ye.
God damnit, larz. I want another SLR now.
maybe i'll give up on the used nikon slr market and just buy a
new nikon f75 . i'm so sick of scouring ebay.
the f75 looks nice
yeah, i think so too. the only bad thing about it is the all-plastic construction--but that makes it a lot lighter than other bodies. :)

This may be completely irrational, but I despise how it looks like a dslr.
I like classic-bodied slrs.
that design was used for film slrs before digital slrs were made.
for example, the F5 (1996) and the D1 (nikon's first dslr; 1999) look almost identical to me.

'96 is too recent to qualify
what i meant is this: they aren't making the film slr bodies to look like the digital slr bodies. they are making the digital slr bodies to look like the film slr bodies. the d1 looks identical to the f5, and the f5 was released 3 years prior to the d1.
i didn't intend to claim that the f5 is a "classic body." on the contrary, i chose it as the epitome of the newer slr body style.
the nikon fg is one of my favorites.
i'd buy this if it were black:

instead i might bid on this:

i've narrowed by search down to these models (only black bodies allowed):
FE, FE-2, FG, FG-20, FM, FM-2
here's a few fg lots i'm watching intently. the fg is my top pick out of all of the models because it's inexpensive and very lightweight (but less durable).

i bought one . it arrived today. it's very nice and works well, with one exception. the asa/iso/ev wheel is busted, so i can't select extreme values (iso < 25 @ ev 0; iso < 100 @ ev +2; iso > 1600 @ ev -2).

they offered to give me $10 back or just refund my money. i'm choosing the refund.
damnit, i was outbid, and now there isn't an acceptable black fg anywhere on ebay.
low-volume markets,
i got one, and the batteries are going.
for the nikon fg, you can use one of
these or two of
these. either way, it's $6 for a refill (free amazon prime shipping :D ).
If you're looking for F*'s, try keh.com.
http://www.bythom.com/nikon.htm has a lot of info on these.
nice site. thanks. :)
