once pagination is working on this website, should i concatenate all of the split threads?
(e.g., should i merge "awesome things done today" pts. 1-4 into one giganto-thread?)

I don't know how I feel about this. I'm honestly skeptical of pagination. I am all for pagination of the index (I know this is already done, but page numbers and stuff would be nice) but pagination of threads weirds me out. I guess I am just used to not using the 'jump' link and manually pressing the End key to get to the bottom of a thread. I should probably just get used to the jump link.
i don't want merging
why not, bluet?
what are you skeptical of, asemi?
i can't believe you guys prefer ghetto forum version 20.0.
i wouldn't mind the merge.

Would it mean that the load-time of the slowest threads (like awesome things done today) would get even worse?
it would get as good as possible.

I am skeptical because most implementations of pagination are annoying to navigate. like they'll have terribly laid out next, previous, beginning, and end links. or they won't show enough page number links. or they'll show too many. I have just rarely come across intuitive or usable implementations of it, I guess. this is something I should think about more, to maybe design a really good one. I trust you will design a good one though :).
i'm scared about those things, too. i certainly doubt it would be coded overnight. :)

ttf pagination is in good hands!
I think it might need to be more immediately obvious what page of a thread you are on than a tiny line of links in the bottom corner. not a lot of thought seems to be given to it most of the time and it ends up sucking. I want to be able to fly around a thread from page to page, go to whatever page I want really quickly, etc.
would it suck to make one of those things that like follows you on the page as you scroll? I kind of hate those so it's probably not a good idea, but I just want to go page to page without finding the page navigation links first :).
similar to an idea dp once had:
the right arrow key is bound with javascript, and pressing it sends an asynchronous http request and punches an additional X posts into the current view.
note: i would always try to have a javascript-free version of ttf.

because the old threads would go away :\

bluet: i'd make sure the old ones would redirect somehow.

I am coding pagination for my blog right now and I HATE IT.
pagination sucks, prefer the "Show Older Posts"
