what've you got and what do you use it for?
I have a pretty basic 4 GB PNY one. I store documents on it as well as applications for Windows, OS X, and OS 9. crucial apps are an SSH client and web browser. I have
PortaPutty and
Firefox Portable for Windows.
I think I might order one of
these new Lacie drives soon. so neat!
I think I've got OpenBSD 4.3 on my ~256 MB drive.
i have a lexar 1gb. i rarely use it. it stays in a technology box at home.

I have a sandisk 1gb. It's pink, with this weird scaley-looking design on the outside.
I store an updated resume on it, along with downsized versions of all the photos I have to show in my classes.

Use it to transfer movies/music between home and work, give friends files, etc.

One thing I like about this drive that it has a switch for write protection.

hmm, you're right! I also disabled password authentication for sshd and my only copy of my private key (other than the one on my MacBook) is on my thumb drive! no ssh access for me today.

You mean the black thing? It looks like a laptop upside-down (You can see the power connector and hinge for the display), took the picture at work ...
I have a SanDisk (2G) which I use for copying movies from/to friends. I bought a WD passport 320G external HDD as I run out of space on my lappy (40G) quite often. I also want to save good movies and use it as a backup for important files.

I would like a IronKey drive, but they don't ship outside of the U.S. :-(
That's what I thought, Carpetsmoker.

I thought I lost my thumb drive, and it has my private ssh key stored on it! (granted with a strong passphrase, but still.) turns out it was just on my desk at home.
I ordered one of the Lacie's I linked to in my original post so I could carry it on my keyring. I'm tired of being scared my other one has fallen out of my pocket or something.
i know what you mean, i keep losing my sony because i'm not affixing it to my wallet anymore. i found it when i dug around in my car seat.
