i like the idea of running a low-power, small-sized computer either as a desktop or as a home server.
it looks like intel will be introducing "pinetrail" late this year.
awesome. me and gatz both have one of
these at home as openbsd boxes running pf. I'm actually about to do a fresh install of 4.5 on mine. I intend to use it is a backup server as well.
the cpu is a via. for some reason newegg doesn't say so.
cpu0: VIA Samuel 2 ("CentaurHauls" 686-class) 798 MHz
cpu0: FPU,DE,TSC,MSR,MTRR,PGE,MMX
as far as i can tell, it's just a case. what board/cpu did you get?
woops, thought I replied to this. I'm not sure they're selling the board anymore. they have a lot of newer ones available that look really nice though. this case is begging for sata given its size.
here's a pic of me working on mine:

the two case fans that I put in there died for some reason. guess they were kind of cheap. so I put the originals back in. I'm going to put a new hard drive in it too, something big enough to hold my backups.
thanks :). I need a USB to PS/2 adapter now so I can stop the thing from booting the OpenBSD CD and change com0 to tty0. I knew there was a reason I used to keep a PS/2 keyboard around.
i used to have an adapter like that. i don't anymore, or else i'd send it!
I borrowed one from work :). going to set everything up on the new hard drive now.
I'm giving up on the whole relying on a serial connection for all administration. I'm going to buy a used 15" LCD from Craigslist for like 20 bucks or something.
