Amazon trademarked ``real name'' ... wtf?
"™" means they claim to use it as a trademark in the marketplace, but it is probably not registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
However, if it had "®" afterward, it would mean that it is indeed registered with the USPTO.

firefox 3 thread for good measure
I started using 3.5 on os x last night. usually I install firefox, use it for about fifteen minutes, and go back to camino. I found an awesome grapple (crisp) theme at
takebacktheweb.org and I might spend more than my usual 15 minutes with firefox, though.
check it out!
I kind of miss camino, and feel a certain loyalty toward it, but using a more standard, cross-platform, cutting-edge-of-web-development-and-standards-implementation web browser is kind of appealing too. extensions like noscript are really awesome to have access to as well.
on the other hand, camino's tab dragging in
2.0 beta 3 is really awesome compared to firefox's.

im stuck with firefox because of vimperator and firebug. i used to use camino back in the day.
i could use almost any browser that had these two plugins. actually, i would prefer to use something else as firefox gets bigger and bigger everyday. but they increase my productivity untold amounts.
also, adblock and cookiemonster are nice too.

I'm torn about vimperator. I'm so used to using the mouse/trackpad for web browsing, but I did really love using the keyboard when I used links a long time ago. I just want basic functionality from it though. hjkl scrolling and keyboard shortcuts to navigate to links, form fields, etc. is all I really want. I'm happy with command+L to jump to the address bar and all that stuff. I'll install it and see if I can get it working like this.

just some quick basic tips
press o then go to web address or google search
'owikipedia dogs' takes you to the wikipedia dog page
'odogs' does a google search for dogs
'odogs.com' takes you to the
dogs.com site
use 't' instead of 'o' in those and you can do it in a new tab
press 'f' to highlight all links with numbers. i use this all the time
press 'F' to do the same thing with a new tab
you an also start typing the word you want to narrow it down
'/' for search (regular firefox does this too)
ctrl-f and ctrl-b work like in vi/vim for pageup/down
and tons of other shit.

hmm, thanks for the tips. I'm gonna install it tonight on my macbook and play around with it.
on my work machine I installed
stylish and
this userscript to get the tab bar above the navigation bar. I also installed the hide menubar add-on. ideally it would go (from top to bottom) menubar, tab bar, navigation bar, but I don't think that splitting up the menubar and navigation bar is possible.

oh and I also have the
xp on vista theme because the blue buttons firefox defaults to on anything post-xp are really ugly.

man, that totally sucks. I had that delay problem a couple of times on my work computer but figured it was because I was running it from my flash drive and some extensions I was messing around with were installing.
i was wondering why, in firefox 3,
thinktankforums.com displays as blue to verify ssl in the address bar, but
paypal.com displays as green.
green means
ev ssl
blue means
ssl
aw,
wells fargo,
which owns a ca, only has a blue certificate.

y'know, I noticed that blue thing on OpenBSD and thought it was just the BSD/Linux version of Firefox or something.
