it's a refurbished T61. I paid 512 (IIRC). you (ttf) can have it for 400 + shipping costs (or I might eat these if I am feeling generous). I have the Vista 32-bit Business license that it came with (although the sticker is removed from the laptop). ask questions here or email me or something.
didn't you just get it? why did you change your mind so quickly?

bsd on the desktop is tiresome. linux would probably annoy me. and windows is out of the question. back to the mac.

elaborate!

some of these are bsd-specific, some are thinkpad-specific
- can't disable tap-to-click (or at least I can't figure out how to)
- can't use the trackpoint scroll button unless you disable the touchpad
- cut and paste behavior in bsd is annoying and inconsistent
- middle-clicking sucks with two mouse buttons
- firefox starts to crawl after using it on and off for about a week
- linux emulation for opera sucks and doesn't work a bunch of the time
- flash support sucks and I can only get to my online banking site inconsistently
- touchpad is too small
- this wouldn't be an issue if I could be more keyboard-centric, but that's difficult these days, and...
- learning new keyboard shortcuts for window managers and stuff is annoying
I think that using such a tweakable, barebones OS on the desktop actually makes me want to code less because I am frustrated by editing stupid configuration files and inconsistency between apps.
> cut and paste behavior in bsd
surely this depends only on xorg or the window manager, not bsd, right?

window manager doesn't have anything to do with cut and paste. xorg does. and I'm considering xorg as part of bsd because there isn't an alternative and because it's distributed directly by each of the bsd projects.
Can't you still use XFree86 with NetBSD? :)

haha, good question. somehow I don't think that would address anything though :).

the only thing that tempts me about thinkpads is the keyboard. the mbp keyboard is ok but nothing compares to tp's.
