bluet, thanks for turning me onto kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, and tebibytes. i've been misusing système international units almost always!

for example, my hard drives are 250GB or 640GB in size. the resultant volume is 1104290383872 bytes (1028 GiB or 1 TiB).

1104290383872 bytes is 1104.290383872 GB which is about 1104 GB or 1.104 TB, not 1028 TB.
