google makes software that is useful. but it often problems, and sometimes they are significant.

groups
ttf-issue and
ttf-commit both have codesite-noreply@google.com as a member with posting permission of "Override - Member is allowed to post." yet google marks the messages as spam, and i have to manually approve them.
meanwhile, robots who don't have any override permissions post spam all the time on group
ttf.
messages sent via chat in gmail are often lost. wait--ajax is unreliable?!

also if you manually authenticate new users to post... they end up in limbo basically. they can't leave the list of their own accord.
oh and lol @ the time our list with something like 900 people on it was randomly deleted.
that sucks. nothing angers me like bad software. it's just a bunch of logic, guys! write it well and it should never do terrible things!
it's one thing if the interface just kinda sucks. it's a very serious problem if groups are deleted and chat messages are lost.
after i upgrade my web server to the next ubuntu lts release, i'm running my own smtp/imap daemons and getting out of google-purgatory.

Ok i've been struggling at getting google voice to send texts to CSC numbers [for facebook, twitter, posterous]. Does this just not work period?
FAIL
as far as i can tell, google voice cannot accept incoming picture messages from verizon customers.
fail!

Google Voice doesn't do MMS period, IIRC.
yeah, no mms.
sucks. why not?
"Sorry, Calendar is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes."
appsstatus lies.

i can't change events! grr
error message again
bah
Ugh. 7 Gig?! How did you manage that?
automated ttf database backups every six hours. :)
in google voice, i try to search contacts for a particular phone number. it doesn't work.
isn't that a basic, necessary feature? SO FRUSTRATING
> automated ttf database backups every six hours. :)
You keep all those backups? I just delete old databases after two months ...
i keep at least a few months of backlog

I am so happy they fixed this.
it only kinda works
typing in "406" only matches two contacts, but i have dozens with "406" numbers.
google produces such terrible software.
stupid google -- i am beginning to want a search algorithm alternative
Google search and google maps are OK.
The rest ... Meh ...

Android is quite nice.
I'm not into gadgets and mobile phones and whatnot, so to be honest I'm something of a n00b whn it comes to that area.
i haven't used a better email client than google yet, though i am increasingly frustrated with the search.
It makes me mad that middle-click doesn't work in gmail.
have you found better search?
nope :( not yet
but the number of span sites that pop up on a regular basis makes me think that there is a market opportunity for a search engine with a cleaner algorithm.
well this is embarrassing
in google calendar, i created an event called "email graduate_grogram@some_big_uni.edu" to remind me to email them in a couple days. google calendar automatically sent them an invitation to the event! D:

I sold my nexus one. I am tired of android only being a great smartphone experience if you 100% buy in to all of google's services. e.g., the "Talk" application in the os doesn't support non-gmail jabber accounts.
google apps are normally very good. but sometimes they fuck up badly. and that makes them extremely inconsistent and therefore unusable. (especially for mission-critical purposes.)
i'm moving off all google apps asap.

I am trying to do the same. email is slowly moving over to my server, jabber has been 100% my server for a few months now, contacts are going in address book on my laptop, calendar will probably go to ical on my laptop.
haha@asem -- You really do change your mind a lot ... How are your thinkpad and macbook? ;)

the macbook pro is great :). sold the thinkpad on ebay for 400.

My old gmail address is set to forward all emails to my new address. I happened to accidentally sign into the old one today, and discovered a 4-day-old email from a friend that was not forwarded.
You suck, gmail.
gmail has been down for like twenty minutes.

It was also down for me.
note that gcal, gvoice, and greader were all working for me at that time.
the outage lasted about 30 minutes.
nothing showing up in the message list with numerous refreshes, but the
sidebar says one exists.
back up. a five second "temporary outage" is still an outage in my book.
anyone else find google search really awful these days? are there any (good) search engine alternatives?
yes, i hate all the "features"
asemisldkfj

I hate that there's no search box at the bottom of the results page. drives me insane.

I use the Scroogle add-on for Firefox. Secure (SSL) searching, removes the ads and featured links, and generally acts like Google used to.
That being said, it's still Google.
