order an x200s with the 12.1" wxga (1280×800) ccfl-backlit lcd screen (i.e., don't bother with the lcd screen upgrade for $150).
buy an boe hydis hv121wx4 aafs screen (about $200). swap it into the x200s.
from what i hear, this screen is amazing. lenovo's led-backlit screen for the x200s isn't very good. the hv121wx4 is glossy, but i have read that it's minimally glossy.

here's a better way to get a marginally lower price:
go through the government and education portal, and you can receive the 10% off education discount.
use the coupon code "USXFALLSAVINGS" to receive an additional 5% off the order. the resultant net discount is 14.5% because they take 10% and then they take 5% off.
if you are getting a warranty upgrade or accessories, it's a bit cheaper because you'll get 14.5% off of those things as well. if you aren't getting a warranty upgrade nor accessories, the 15% discount is marginally better by ordering as a small business.
this education portal coupon works until nov. 30, so you aren't rushed. unfortunately you can't use the "USPNOTEBOOKS" coupon in the education portal on top of the others. :)

right, but they all say that it's such a nice, minimal gloss, that they actually prefer it to the matte.
--positiveAlthough the screen is glossy (after the glass is removed), it is not the typical glossy that I have seen on other laptops. It is very high quality, and has minimal reflections. I thought I would prefer matte, as all of my screens are matte, but I like this screen better. The contrast is higher, and the colors are much more vivid.
