it makes me feel old--i don't understand it. so i don't like it. i pretty much had everything figured out about xp pro. i could manage the fuck out of policy and even teach my school's winadmin things. on windows 7 i don't know what the fuck is happening.

local policies aren't that much different. they just added all that "preferences" stuff in addition to policies. I went from adminning 2003 to 2008 pretty smoothly. unless there is a lot different between 2008 and 7, I don't know.
