It's bad science that ruins scientific under takings. I am all for researching changing weather patterns as well as the impact of industry on our ecosystem. But, there are douchebag opportunists with papers who see this as an opportunity to further their own bullshit laden careers. As a result, what was once a scientific pursuit grows ever more a political pursuit, and also a massive waste of time.

doesn't really seem to be picking up momentum. we will see tomorrow what happens. anyways a few unflattering emails by people in positions of authority is hardly grounds for dismissing or asserting the validity of climate change. besides does anybody really believe the world is going to sacrifice today's prosperity for the next generation's well-being? if climate change is real (which I hope it isn't), it is highly unlikely that we will make changes large enough to significantly alter the current trajectory.

btw i went to this talk last week on the household effects of climate change and the first paper that the author cited was a paper published in the 70s that did the same thing except anticipating global cooling.

I don't see it as an assault on the validity of the concerns on either side, more a sign that this area of research is now overrun with people who put actual research second to their own personal agenda.

And that undermines a lot of the research in the area... that's very bad.
