I didn't expect much from this device to be honest and I was starting to regret my purchase. Nokia USA actually uses Brightpoint as an outsourced call center and they recently switched to a new ordering system. Somehow my initial preorder was lost in the migration, so I Was extremely pissed when I had to reorder my phone. I left for New Orleans expecting my phone to be in next week. I was sitting in a restaurant when I checked my email and noticed that FedEx was overnighting my package.

I drove home really quickly(7 hours) and I opened the package. The phone feels really solid. I was expecting a shitty hinge like the Nokia N97 but this slider is well built. Getting the back cover off was kind of a pain. There are only inserts in the device where mini hooks from the back plate go into, so I had a bit of a problem. After removing the back plate, I noticed that the lens cover is actually built into the back cover itself. I do not believe it will scratch the lens. There were problems with the N95 and lens scratching, but I doubt this is the case with the N900. I placed in the battery and my sim and I powered the device on.

Once the screen protector was off, the screen was pretty vibrant. Fonts are really antialiased. The integration with skype/gmail/Ovi share is excellent. There is no AOL integration just yet, but I rather have Google Talk. The screen is a resistive screen, so the iPhone wins in that regard. However, the screen is still pretty responsive.

I have tested SMS, email, internet(both 3G and wifi), as well as playing some music and videos. This is a good all around device, and a good one if you prefer openness, as most open source applications can be ported. All in all, I am happy with this purchase. If you have any questions, let me know so I can test out. I've taken a screenshot of me texting Asemi located here:
