so the audio from the x200s isn't very good.
i think that a
total bithead dac-amp would be a good solution to the problem.
headroom has a
package deal right now--if you buy a pair of headphones, you can get a bithead for $99 (a $60 discount).
i'm thinking about getting a pair of
grado sr 60i headphones with a bithead for $178 total.

i want it, but .. it's not cheap.

The headphone jack also? IIRC the X200 has an Intel Azalia and should provide fairly good quality audio on the headphone jack...
The builtin speakers suck, yeah. But I don't think this is surprising to anyone.
i am not sure if i would carry the extra equipment around with me just to marginally improve sound quality. when at home you have a sweet speaker set up.
> The headphone jack also?
indeed.
> just to marginally improve sound quality
with a good pair of headphones, it's more than a marginal improvement.
> when at home you have a sweet speaker set up
true. that's the primary factor restraining me.
i really enjoy having a sweet mobile setup, though. that's why i want to upgrade the lcd screen and add the bithead. i'm all about coding in cafes. i want to do a lot of traveling next year, too.

that sucks. the built-in audio on my t61 was pretty good. this isn't a bad idea if you just want to setup something at home. I usually run my macbook through an old yamaha amp/receiver/stereo and then to headphones or speakers.

If I were traveling, I would refrain from wearing headphones. It makes you appear less approachable, and I like environmental noise.
> the built-in audio on my t61 was pretty good.
well it's probably identical, i just have high standards.
> this isn't a bad idea if you just want to setup something at home.
i have good a good dac and powered speakers at home. this would only be a mobile solution.
> It makes you appear less approachable
i agree.
> I like environmental noise.
i do too, sometimes. however, awesome music is essential for intense coding!

i wonder whether, in principle, there's something that someone in this thread could say that could actually affect your decision
existence/non-existence each have interesting implications >:]

i currently have the er-6i iems. if someone told me that the sr60i cans weren't much better, i wouldn't do it.
$60 off is such a good deal! :|

I do too. I just never go mobile with anything better than px-100s.
well they have a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, they are offering free ground shipping, and i get free return shipping with the larz courier service.
the offer expires tonight, and i can't decide. so i'm giving the bithead + sr 80i a test run. ordered!
meh.
order canceled.
damn, the laptop's sound is awful, though
i only have er-6is and i can readily hear the garbage

damnit lucas. you keep making me not want to buy it!
haha
just turn it up loud enough to cover the noise
god i wish i had done this--i need it badly at work. the audio that my employer-provided laptop produces is pure fucking garbage. it doesn't even go loud enough to drive my er6i loud enough for my liking.
shit sucks
bwahahah
i just called up, and i asked customer service to fulfill the order. so i got the old price! woo!
today at work, i left the cable for my bithead at home, so i can't use it.
the audio is garbage without it. i love my bithead.
