my d90's sd slot is busted. cards get stuck in it, and they get broken when trying to remove them.
no digital camera? serious pain
the good news: in warranty for two more months

...does this mean my card is now broken, too? :-\
that should be in warranty as well. i had a transcend card that i bought in 2006 and it failed last summer. i sent it to them and they sent me a new one. i was amazed.
well i've been trying to get sandisk to replace my broken card. six emails later and still no rma.
> ...does this mean my card is now broken, too? :-\
no, just serious difficulties with removal. it's fine, though.
i told nikon about the problem. i got a reply after half an hour. i was advised to send it to them for service. i love nikon so much! i've read that when you send a camera to nikon for service, they clean it for you.
i'm going to include a note asking them to replace the lcd window, which only costs about $3 in parts. i'm hoping they'll give me labor for free because it's there for warranty work anyway.
i replaced the lcd window myself once, and because i didn't do it in a clean room, i got dust on the inside of the window. so i had to use a solution to clean it. but the solution left some translucent residue. thus i want them to replace it in their clean room. :)
i'm still trying to convince sandisk to rma the sd card. it sucks
SD cards are around 10$? Or do you have some superfancy SD card?
yeah, the sandisk ultra 4gb sdhc card is $13.50 shipped.
this time i sprung for the sandisk extreme 8gb sdhc for $48.39 shipped (after mir :[ ).
my d90
left today for repairs.
sandisk is finally in the process of generating an rma. i'll see how long this takes...
the sd card is fully authorized, and sandisk even paid for ups ground return shipping!

i would think bad news bears would arrive just after the beer and oxy

• REMOVING CARD FROM THE SD IS DIFFICULT

$0.00 USD

I would expect a camera of that price to use CF btw ...

I prefer SD. :)

i prefer sd as well
CF is far faster than SD.
> I would expect a camera of that price to use CF btw ...
Not with Nikon! The mid-range line of cameras (e.g., D80, D90) use SD, while the high-end line of cameras (e.g., D200, D300, D300s) use CF (the D300s uses both CF and SD). In other words, if you want a new Nikon camera that uses CF, you have to pay at least $1,500.
Oh, the D90 is a "midrange" camera ;-/
CF is also more robust and ATA compatible
three business days passed between the time nikon received the camera and the time an acknowledgment/estimate was issued.
that's not too bad.
sandisk shipped the replacement sd card today. /o/
nikon shipped the camera yesterday! /o/
this week is all about ups!
wednesday: replacement sandisk ultra 4gb sdcard
thursday: repaired nikon d90 camera; new nikon d90 wireless shutter control
friday: new sunshine systems glowpanel 45

you got a remote? awesome! let us know how you like it...I'm in the market.
yeah, i want to take some professional self-portraits this week. i'll let you know!
i got the camera and remote an hour ago. the " image ctl
pcb " was replaced in the camera!
i was without my digital camera for 17 days total.
the remote is fun! it operates easily at twenty feet. the camera meters and focuses on each remote click, which is what i was hoping! the self-timer does those operations when you start it, making good self-portraits nearly impossible.

nothing is wrong - what are you scared of?
can you do exposures longer than 30s with it on bulb?

I mean.. click once to flip up mirror and begin exposure, click again to shut it.
no, it doesn't do bulb. the wired one does.
