@nny there are plenty of languages running on top of the jvm today, like jruby, jpython, clojure and scala. I believe most of them have good java integration, so you could deal with java just in the outer layers of your apps (just when calling Android APIs), build some abstraction layers around them to make them feel more like one of the better languages and then use that language for most of your logic.
No java. None. Unacceptable. Java has no place on this earth and all if it's followers MUST be purged. The language is a plague. The only remedy is total and utter ruthless extermination of anything Java touches.
