it's fun imagining how goldberg might justify the two initial excerpts. before the iraq war, we had intelligence that told us hussein had an even more advanced nuclear weapons program than when we last knew of it. he had "redoubled" his efforts. AFTER the iraq war (or I guess I should say during), we now know that our intelligence was bogus (who would have thought!) and realize that it must have been israel's strike in 1981 that had wiped it out!

please don't point out obvious flaws in that, because they are obvious. it's just fun imagining how to spin them to give people a certain impression.

Yeah, while I actually think that Israel will inevitably strike Iran if they believe they are capable of achieving nuclear capacity... glenn does a pretty good job of tearing goldberg's article apart.

That being said... goldberg could very well be the harbinger of Israeli hostilities in the region. Definitely good for no one.
