favorite shoe brands/styles?
anyone here ever make their own shoes/moccasins? want to?
i made my own sandals out of old car tires and bike innertubes.

those sandals were out of control dave. didnt you end up cutting your foot?
yeah i was forced to run in them and one of the straps got cut on a fence, thus cutting my foot and ruining them.

I've got a pair of No Sweat all black high tops. I've never been a fan of high tops but I like these okay. they're not the best-made shoes and probably will only last a year or so, but they're only 40 USD and no one is getting cancer from toxic glue while making them.
My favorite casual shoes are probably vans, or more generally skaterish shoes since they are on average wide, and I don't have to go 'especial' to find some that work. I have strange duckfeet that are short and wide, though they are not webbed :p
I'm in need of finding more fitted regular shoes though now. I also need some dress shoes, both of my pairs of work shoes are dying.
I have had some strange urges for crafting things but shoes or moccasins have not been a compulsion so far.

Its seems I have the same foot as you dp, my foot is also flat, wide and non-webbed. I have found that Adio's work best.
They are a skater shoe that holds its shape even with my wide, flat feet. The adio bam shoes (which i currently have now) havnt stretch out on the outside of the shoe.

i picked up these in the cordovan/golden rod color. pretty intense shoes. they didn't have them at the puma store i went to in detroit for some reason...
ive been wearing adidas shelltoes black on white for the last seven years, all year (even canadian winter!), no problem, no stress. always reasonably fashionable and doesn't cause any commotion. y-yeah.

I picked up some New Balance cross trainers at the factory outlet near me, but they killed my feet after wearing them for a day. I brought them back and got store credit. I'm gonna try to sell the store credit to someone and get some of these:

When's the Converse fad gonna fall? :(
I rock the cheap-o steel toe sneakers from Wal-Mart. Also happens to be the most comfortable shoes I've owned.

I resisted the Converse fad for so long. then I tried one pair and now I can't wear anything else. at least nothing else I've found.
phi_

I guess it's because of my oddly sized feet that I can't appreciate Converses. My incredibly high arches and really wide feet make it IMPOSSIBLE to wear them.
asemisldkfj

yeah, I have really high instep and I've found Converse-style shoes are great for this. if I try to wear running or cross-training sneakers, they feel very bulky around my instep, like they don't fit that part of my foot at all.
I think my slightly wide feet aren't wide enough to be uncomfy, but they're wide enough to contribute to the faster decay of the shoes, since they're always pushing out on the sides when I step.
on another note, the cheap-o shoes from Wal-mart or K-mart are pretty sweet. I got some canvas boat shoes from K-mart for like 4 bucks a few years ago and wore them for a whole summer without socks. then I had to stop wearing them because they smelled so bad.

I bought some shoes yesterday. my Converses started to fall apart and I really needed some new ones.
I wanted to go non-leather and decent labor conditions, but ended up going hopefully-decent labor conditions, leather, and durability.
I bought some shoes from Camper.
they're made in China, so who knows about the labor conditions. I can find stuff about Camper's
long history of environmental and labor responsibility and they do cool stuff like
this , but can't find anything definite.
they were expensive, but I bought them in the hope that they will last a really long time. they have a two-year warranty on "manufacturing defects." if they last a solid two years without anything falling apart I will be very impressed.

woops, I forgot to post them, haha. I'll take some of my own pics soon.
they're
these but in
this color .
timberland makes some shoes that are normally a bit wider. I bought 3 pair. I got one pair for under $20 and they rock. leather, waterproof, and comfy!
if you know anything about their labor conditions let me know :p
asemi> they were expensive
how much?
my la sportiva boots were handmade in italy, but my la sportiva climbing shoes were made in china (surprising!--not sarcasm, either).

kinda expensive, but they look nice and will be worth it, probably.
i spent $400 on my winter mountaineering boots:

so i'm not going to revile in disgust at $120/$175 shoes.

Vans classics. I have like 3 different pairs at any given time. 40 - 60 bucks in cost... match everything.. stylish... have charisma... never go out of style... and are comfortable and resilient.

Bought 'em.
Pretty comfy, but does a good job of keeping my ankle straight and the water out. Plus they're not nearly as massive looking in person as they are on page. With pant legs covering them, they just look like normal boots ... albeit the tread looks weird to most people.
wearing my sandals today.

Gatz: mid-calf, soft-toed lace-up or engineer boots. I've been looking at 5.11 and Bates tactical boots because of a very good recommendation from an EMT.

inspired by nny's new shoe post I tried to find my favorite shoes to buy a future replacement pair. and they're discontinued :(. I am remarkably sad about this.

Right? It's ridiculous.
Haha, that's just so funny (and silly)
In the EU, adding ™ and ® symbols aren't required to maintain your trademark, I've had many a discussion with `manager type' people about this. They invariably insist they should be added anyway, and they invariably fail to come up with coherent argument *why* they should be added. meh.
i don't think it's necessary here to maintain the trademark, but i'm not an expert. it seems to me that it's more of a caution ("don't copy this shit, bro").
