I don't want to be caught! :p
do you even use it for seeding? i thought you mostly used it for backups.
I mostly use it for keeping op on some IRC channels. I use
torrific.com for most of my torrents now. And I haven't backed up as much as I should. :(

Fair warning, our office hosts a root dns server.
haha
which? e?
damnit, the wikipedia list makes it pretty obvious
here i was doing geolocation on a.root-servers.net, b, c, ...
i'm impressed that i remembered their naming scheme from my bind days

Had to use an east coast system for whatever reason we're having issues on west today.
Anyways... didn't have much time to ramp up speed before it finished DL.

needless to say I get about 4Mbps better than the shit comcast runs to my apartment.
> Dorms rule!
except when you want to offer services. on my university connection, i'd get killer speeds, but i couldn't use skype or torrent without an ssh tunnel out. forget about incoming connections.
Incoming connections are fine here.

It's really more of my house than my ISP, we've had issues with every cable, satellite, and internet provider around. We've been through all of them hoping the next would fix the issues, but they never did so we're staying with Uverse right now because the television service is pretty good (though their cable boxes tend to fuck up in really interesting ways, but that may just be my house again).

i'm now on
cox communications in
isla vista california. it's a bulk residential account (that is, the property management company pays for each apartment's cable and internet connection). i'm unsure what package i actually have--i think it's the premier one.
the premier package (if that's what i'm even on) should give me 12Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
here are the tests from isla vista (which is in the santa barbara area).
11.62Mbps down 3.78Mbps up 24ms ping -- los angeles - dream host
11.59Mbps down 3.71Mbps up 56ms ping -- san diego - fastserv networks
11.96Mbps down 3.79Mbps up 17ms ping -- san jose - smugmug
averages
11.72Mbps downstream
3.76Mbps upstream
32ms ping
pretty cool!
